FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Welcome and thank you for allowing us to assist you with your medical care.

My name is Stacy and I am the surgical coordinator for Cascade Vascular Associates in Tacoma. As surgery coordinator there are some issues that I must address prior to confirmation of a surgery date. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Accommodating your schedule
  • Operating room availability
  • Pre-operative appointments (office, hospital, diagnostic…)
  • Addressing any special needs for your particular procedure
  • Physician availability
  • Surgical equipment availability

Coordinating these factors requires a great deal of time on the telephone. While I may not be available to speak with you directly when you call, please know I am working on addressing the needs of your surgical care and I will return your call. If you have urgent issues, please have the staff page me, and I will get to the phone as soon as possible while you are holding.

WHEN YOU CALL PLEASE KNOW THE FOLLOWING:

  • Know your insurance benefits inside and out before we schedule a date: It is best to call your carrier directly for coverage information. Write down the date and name of the representative you spoke with.
  • Know what hospital you can and cannot attend.
  • Do you require a referral from your primary care physician?
  • Is your particular procedure a covered benefit and is a second opinion required?

It is your responsibility to know/confirm your insurance coverage inclusions/exclusions prior to entering the hospital.

Our staff will be responsible for obtaining an authorization/tracking number for your surgery.
